(formerly
C&J Bus Lines and First Seacoast Bank (formerly Federal Savings Bank), have joined forces to kick off the “Bring Us Home” capital campaign for Cocheco Valley Humane Society (CVHS) with a combined donation of $100,000.
The capital campaign will be used to construct a new 11,000 square foot animal shelter featuring state-of-the-art facilities for enhanced medical care and improved community services. The new facility will be built on land leased by Strafford County. For over 30 years, CVHS has operated at its current facility; a 100-year old piggery that has been rehabilitated to meet the organization’s needs. Over time; however, the growing demands for the services CVHS provides has outpaced the size and functionality of the current building.
“This is an exciting time for the staff, volunteers, and animals of CVHS. On behalf of the entire C&J team we are thrilled to partner once again with our good friends at Federal Savings Bank to jump start this campaign in a meaningful way,” said C&J Bus Lines President, James Jalbert.
“This community benefits immensely from the services provided by CVHS,” according to FSB President and CEO, James J. O’Neill, Jr. “Federal Savings Bank couldn’t be more pleased to have this opportunity to contribute to the future success of this dedicated organization,” he added.
To commemorate this donation, C&J and FSB will name the new behavioral training room in the new CVHS building. There is a growing need for this service, according to CVHS Executive Director, Leslie Heindl; the new training space will enable the shelter staff to provide improved training for shelter animals, expand its behavioral training program to the general public, and enhance its partnership with the UNH Animal Science program. “This new shelter will enable the organization to not only improve the quality of services we already offer, but will provide us with an opportunity to add new services that will greatly benefit the residents of Strafford County while ensuring the sustainability of the organization for years to come,” she said.
