Four-legged friends led their humans to support their fellow brethren at the ”My Dogs are Barking 5K” road race this fall when C&J helped raise $2,000 to support the Cocheco Valley Humane Society (CVHS).
The second annual road race started at the C&J Bus Lines headquarter offices located at 185 Grafton Road in Portsmouth, NH and completed a 3.1 mile loop around the Pease Tradeport. Participants included employees as well as friends and family of C&J and the CVHS in Dover, NH. The sunny fall afternoon concluded with a barbecue reception at C&J’s terminal.
A community-funded, nonprofit organization, CVHS is dedicated to promoting the humane treatment of animals in Strafford County, NH and Southern Maine. They are a safe, temporary home for more than 2,300 surrendered, lost, abused, neglected, or unwanted animals each year.
“Cocheco Valley Humane Society is very grateful for the all of the support from C&J Bus Lines employees and friends,” said CVHS Executive Director Leslie Heindl. “We are excited to be part of this annual event and we want to thank all of the participants for their generous donations.”
C&J donated $10 to the CVHS for everyone that participated as well as matched $1 for every dollar donated.
“We are proud to continue to support the efforts of the Humane Society with this donation only event and we hope to continue the event for years to come.” said C&J Vice President of Operations Jamie Lesniak.
The combined donations of $2,000 will provide food, shelter and love for our furry friends.
