There’s a lot to love about New York City—the food, the museums, the shopping, the never-ending entertainment options. It’s a city with something for absolutely everyone, so we’re betting this list of our favorite things to do in NYC will inspire some Big Apple love in you, too. And remember, getting to NYC is simple with C&J so you can spend more time enjoying everything the city has to offer.
Even if you’re not starving right when you get off the C&J coach at Port Authority in Manhattan (we do offer complimentary snacks and beverages in our on-board galleys, after all!), no trip to NYC is complete without grabbing a bite to eat. And there’s nothing like getting authentic New York-style bagels from H&H Midtown Bagels or fresh pasta in Little Italy. We love Levain Bakery’s crave-worthy cookies (which are perfect for sharing). If you’re cold from walking around outside, Momofuku Noodle Bar’s delicious ramen will warm you up. Our bus terminal is centrally located, making these NYC restaurants easily reached by public transportation or walking.
It’s easy to spend hours in any one of NYC’s plentiful museums. Bring the kids to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum for a fun afternoon of learning and exploring. If you’re a fashion aficionado, the Museum at FIT is a great way to learn more about the history of fashion and see some stylish exhibits. More of a modern art fan? The Whitney Museum of American Art has an extensive collection, much of it by living artists. Situated between the Hudson River and the High Line elevated walkway in Chelsea, The Whitney is also easy to get to on foot.
We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention doing a little window-shopping on Fifth Avenue. When you’re done looking at all the window displays, stop into the Strand Book Store, just off Fifth Avenue. You’ll find a treasure trove of new and used books, and even a rare book room! We also love the newly-opened LEGO Store on Fifth Avenue. Children and adults alike are all amazed by the giant LEGO creations inside.
There’s a reason Top Deck, the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building, is one of the most popular New York attractions. You can see almost the whole city from this incredible viewpoint! If heights aren’t your cup of tea, then visit the New York Public Library. It’s the largest public library in the United States! You’re sure to fall in love with the beautiful building and the amazing collection of books inside.
We’re positive that you’ll love at least one of these New York attractions as much as we do! And you can find them all on our interactive map of the city for easy navigating. New York City is only a bus ride away, and with C&J you won’t have to stress about driving or parking in the city. Take a coach to NYC from Dover or Portsmouth, New Hampshire or Tewksbury, Massachusetts and spend a weekend with your loved ones!
