Searching for a reason to get out of the house and make a quick escape to the big city? Look no further! Tribeca, New York City is still relatively unknown to most tourists, making it a perfect alternative to the typical hustle and bustle of the city. Despite the lack of tourists, the neighborhood is constantly buzzing with activity—residents flock to the many great restaurants, boutiques, and museums that line the industrial-style streets. Whether you go for a weekend or stay for an entire week, you’ll be hard-pressed to run out of things to do in Tribeca.

You’ll love stretching out your legs on our luxury buses—they’re outfitted with spacious seats, free Wi-Fi, complimentary snacks and refreshments, and all the entertainment you need to make the ride go by in the blink of an eye. Ready to start planning your adventure in New York City? Let’s get rolling.

The Best Shopping Around

It’s almost impossible to visit New York City without popping into at least a couple boutiques and shops to see what the latest fashions and bespoke wares are. Luckily, Tribeca has plenty of unique, independent stores to get lost in for hours.

  • Best Made Co. – Are you an outdoorsy type? Then make a beeline directly to this shop. Best Made Co. sells all the gear you need for camping, from cookware to beautifully made clothing and backpacks. After shopping here, you’ll want to hop right back on our bus and head out of the city so you can try out your new gear!
  • The Mysterious Bookshop – As the name suggests, this bookshop sells mysteries or every sort. Their collection of mystery novels is extensive, so if you’re searching for your next great read, then stop here. For diehards, there’s even “Crime Clubs” where mystery lovers can get their hands on the latest first-editions from the most talented authors in the genre.
  • Shinola – If it’s time for a new watch, then Shinola has you covered. They actually carry everything from timepieces to sleek bicycles and it’s fun to browse their wares. It’s also the perfect place to pick up a gift from someone’s birthday, anniversary, or graduation!

All the Sights to See

1980s movie lovers, rejoice: did you know that the iconic Ghostbusters firehouse is located in the heart of Tribeca? You can go and see it for yourself at 14 North Moore Street. It’s still a fully functional firehouse, but feel free to take a touristy snapshot of the Ghostbusters logo on the sidewalk just outside.

While the firehouse will likely be just a quick stop in your day, you can easily spend hours at the Mmuseumm, which “is a style of storytelling about the modern world. It is Object Journalism.” Mmuseumm is truly one-of-a-kind, and we can’t recommend taking a few hours out of an afternoon to explore it. Some items and their stories are very dark but equally fascinating—be wary of your young children if you plan on visiting with the family.

Nearby, Dream House offers a more family friendly art experience. It’s a fully immersive “sound and color” experience set inside an unassuming apartment. It’s meant to be a relaxing atmosphere that busy New Yorkers can retreat to after a long week, but you’ll enjoy it, too.

Our Favorite Restaurants in Tribeca

By and far, Tribeca is one of the best neighborhoods to dine out in New York City. There are countless tempting spots to share small plates of bruschetta on a deck, or dig into a flavorful steak from the comfort of a plush leather booth. While it was a difficult task, we compiled a few of our favorite stops for food in the neighborhood.

  • The Odeon – If you want to dine at one of the most iconic restaurants in the city, this is your number one destination. The Odeon is known as a favorite to the likes of Andy Warhol, celebrities, and even Saturday Night Live cast members. Most everything on their menu is delicious, but we recommend getting oysters and one of their signature martinis.
  • Locanda Verde – Locals love Locanda Verde, and so do we. It’s a relaxed atmosphere that’s perfect for unwinding after a busy day in the city. Everything on their Italian menu is created with the utmost care and quality ingredients. There’s a reason why locals keep coming back for more!
  • Belle Reve – You’ll never know what you’re going to get when you eat at Belle Reve—they host themed nights nearly every day of the week, so you might arrive in the middle of trivia night or a comedic sing-along session. The only thing that is consistent here is the excellent food. Try the watermelon salad for a light and refreshing starter before digging into one of their incredible burgers.
  • Pepolino – This is a must for anyone who loves Italian food. The calming, comfortable atmosphere in Pepolino is a perfect pairing with ravioli del di (ravioli of the day) and orange blossom crème brûlée.
  • Grand Banks – When the weather allows, Grand Banks is the ultimate dining experience. Located aboard a historic wooden schooner, this floating restaurant will impress you with its seasonal seafood plates and expertly-crafted cocktails. Make sure you reserve a table ahead of time, as seating is very limited aboard the ship.
